The article focuses on the interrelation between theater history and the history of books, examining an actor's inventory to illuminate the significance of high-status books and their implications for the 1623 Shakespeare Folio. Topics include the construction of a fictionalized "Shakespeare Company" in the Folio's list of actors, its exclusions and representations, and the exploration of alternative narratives revealed through contemporaneous lists and references within the plays.
