Abstract
The article analyzes the reenactments of World War II in Haruki Murakami's novels "The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle" and "Killing Commendatore." It examines the experiences of the protagonist of trauma, violence and war, the references to World War II, and the victimhood of the former soldier Lieutenant Mamiya in "The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle." It explores the depiction of murders, boundary between victim and victimizer, guilt and self-relief in "Killing Commendatore."
