Abstract

The text is a review of two books related to medieval history. The first book, "Animal-Human Relationships in Medieval Iceland: From Farm-Settlement to Sagas," explores the interactions between humans and animals in early Icelandic society. The author examines various sources, including historical texts and archaeological evidence, to understand the roles of domesticated animals in the development of Icelandic farms. The second book, "The Christianization of Scandinavia in the Viking Era: Religious Change in Adam of Bremen’s Work," focuses on Adam of Bremen's Gesta Hammaburgensis and its significance in understanding the conversion of Scandinavia to Christianity. The author uses the history of ideas/mentalities as a methodological framework to analyze the text and its portrayal of the conversion period. [Extracted from the article]
