Abstract

The article discusses research on the psychological and sociocultural factors behind the phenomenon of "Stalags," soft pornographic booklets with sadomasochistic themes that emerged in Israel during the 1960s. Conducted by researchers from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the study involved expert interviews and qualitative content analysis, resulting in six key categories that explain the popularity of Stalags during the Adolf Eichmann trial. These categories include the reversal of antisemitic imagery, the political implications of sexuality, and the influence of American cinema, among others. The research integrates psychoanalytic theory to enrich the understanding of these findings. [Extracted from the article]
