Abstract

When it comes to developing learning solutions in multiple languages, in addition to considering the influence of factors such as underlying culture and the educator-learner relationship, keep in mind components such as visual design, typography, and language usage. CULTURAL AWARENESS ANDINCLUSION In the classic science-fiction series The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, author Douglas Adams introduces readers to a unique solution to the challenge of multiple languages: the Babel fish. However, the tools at our disposal for matters such as translation become somewhat problematic because many L&D professionals often apply them to solutions after the fact instead of considering multilanguage output as part of the work. In a multilanguage learner scenario, inquire about language preferences, activity preferences, or challenges learners may have faced when consuming prior offerings (such as language or comprehension barriers).
