Abstract

India has expressed serious concern over the theft of Goddess Kali's crown from a temple in Bangladesh and the ongoing desecration of Hindu temples and deities in the country. The Ministry of External Affairs has called on the Government of Bangladesh to ensure the safety and security of Hindus and all minorities and their places of worship. The crown was gifted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2021, and the High Commission of India in Bangladesh has urged the government to investigate the theft and take action against the perpetrators. Analysts believe that radical Islamists from Jamaat-e-Islami are behind these incidents, with the aim of turning Bangladesh into a Shariah-ruled country. [Extracted from the article]
