This article focuses on the Netflix series *Dept. Q*, created by Scott Frank, which follows Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) Carl Morck (Matthew Goode) leading a cold-case police unit in Edinburgh. The first season centers on the investigation into the disappearance of Merritt Lingard (Chloe Pirrie), a prosecutor missing for four years and held captive by Ailsa Jennings and her son Lyle, who blame her for the death of Ailsa's other son. The series also explores Morck's recovery from a shooting that left his partner paralyzed and the unresolved mystery surrounding the assailants. The season concludes with Merritt's rescue and the death of Lyle, while Morck and his team prepare to tackle new cases.
