Abstract
This article analyzes the 2019 Gothic comedy film *Satanic Panic*, directed by Chelsea Stardust, as a satirical liberal response to the patriarchal and theocratic elements of Trump-era politics. The film uses satanic symbolism—drawing on both left-wing activism associated with The Satanic Temple (TST) and the individualist, capitalist philosophy of the Church of Satan—to explore generational and gender conflicts central to contemporary American culture wars. By referencing the 1980s and 1990s "Satanic Panic" and Y2K apocalyptic anxieties, the film critiques neoliberal Boomer values and Christian nationalism while empowering youth and feminist resistance. The article situates *Satanic Panic* within a broader tradition of satanism as Carnivalesque performance and political theatre, reflecting the cyclical nature of occult conspiracy fears and cultural backlash in U.S. history.
