POETRYPicking blackberries in the ravine along themica coveredroad with QueenAnne’s Lace and Ragweed busywith bumblebees in theblistering silence cricketsand cicadas, blackberries notso much black thanpurple run down my chinand fingers, berries crunchy, plump andjuicy stain the brown paperbag enough for pie for mywife to fill the house withthat sweet aroma from theoven to cool on the kitchencounter.
