Abstract

The article explores the enduring power and structure of fairy tales, emphasizing how their rhythmic "and then" narrative style engages listeners physically and mentally. It discusses how these concise, repetitive plots create space for readers to interpret deeper meanings, motivations, and metaphors over time, using examples from classic tales like Bluebeard, Hansel and Gretel, and Sleeping Beauty. The piece also highlights how this narrative form can train readers to recognize plot developments and character shifts in more complex contemporary fiction. Ultimately, it suggests that the simplicity and cadence of fairy tales offer both a gateway to imaginative exploration and a foundation for richer storytelling.
