Abstract
The article focuses on the challenges and developments in Africa's book publishing and distribution landscape. Despite a vibrant publishing industry, print distribution across Africa's 54 countries and over 1,000 languages remains difficult, compounded by limited internet penetration at 43%. However, digital platforms such as Nigeria-based Publiseer and Okada, Ghana's Akoo Books, and France-based YouScribe are expanding access to e-books and audiobooks across multiple African countries. Additionally, the growing popularity of webtoons reflects a shift in comic consumption toward mobile-friendly digital formats. Major book fairs and recent ventures like Malaysia's Big Bad Wolf sales in East Africa further demonstrate the continent's strong engagement with literature.
