'Hansel and Gretel' Picture Book Due This Fall from Stephen King and Maurice Sendak.

This article announces the fall 2024 publication of *Hansel and Gretel*, a reimagining of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale by horror writer Stephen King, illustrated with artwork by the late Maurice Sendak, a Caldecott Medalist. The picture book features Sendak's 1997 set and costume designs for the Engelbert Humperdinck opera *Hansel and Gretel* and is produced in collaboration with the Maurice Sendak Foundation. HarperCollins acquired North American rights and will release the book on September 2, simultaneously with Hodder Children's Books in the U.K. The project highlights the thematic interplay of light and darkness in fairy tales, emphasizing children's bravery and resilience.
