Abstract

The article focuses on the role of moral agency as a response to grievance culture, drawing on biblical texts from Ezekiel and Matthew to explore conflict, responsibility, and reconciliation within communities. It highlights Ezekiel's role as a sentinel tasked with confronting sin and encouraging repentance, emphasizing that despite trauma and despair, individuals retain enough agency to turn toward healing and a hopeful future with God. The article also discusses Jesus' instructions in Matthew 18:15–20 for addressing interpersonal sin through a restorative, confrontive process that requires free moral agency and aims to restore community wholeness. This approach underscores that loving connection involves vulnerable, communicative engagement rather than silence or avoidance, and that such human agency carries both earthly and spiritual significance.
