Abstract

This article focuses on a special magazine issue that brings together the works of British film director Terence Davies and writer Christopher Hitchens. It highlights the posthumous publication of Terence Davies’s poetry, intended to introduce his lesser-known literary talents to new readers, alongside a reconsideration of Christopher Hitchens’s extensive and enduring influence as a journalist and writer. The issue, titled "Distant Voices/Still Lives" after Davies’s first feature film, reflects on the lasting impact of both figures, whose voices continue to resonate despite their passing. The publication also features contributions from both longtime acquaintances and younger writers, emphasizing the ongoing relevance of their work.
