Abstract
The article focuses on analyzing William Faulkner's early works in the 1920s and 30s, particularly "The Sound and the Fury" and "That Evening Sun," and how they handle the representation of Black characters. The article argues that through these works, Faulkner explores the mechanism of racialization and the affective porosity of individual boundaries in the Jim Crow South using Quentin Compson as the narrator/point-of-view character.
