Abstract
This article provides an overview of key acronyms related to artificial intelligence (AI), tracing their origins and explaining their roles within the broader AI ecosystem. It highlights AI as the foundational term coined in 1956, with subfields such as machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), natural language processing (NLP), and computer vision (CV) described in terms of their development and applications. Additionally, it covers the Internet of Things (IoT), which connects physical devices digitally, and augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), technologies that overlay or create immersive digital environments. The article presents these acronyms metaphorically as evolving species within a digital ecosystem, emphasizing their growing significance across various industries.
