Abstract

The Museo de Arte de Ponce in Puerto Rico houses a collection assembled by Luis A. Ferré, a prominent figure known for his love of visual art and his role as governor of Puerto Rico. The museum, founded in 1959, features over four thousand works of art, including pieces by European Old Masters and nineteenth-century academic painters. One of its most famous works is Flaming June by Frederic Leighton, a renowned painting depicting a young woman in saffron-colored robes. The museum's collection is currently on display in a traveling exhibition titled The Sense of Beauty: Six Centuries of Painting. [Extracted from the article]
