Abstract

The article reviews three contemporary poetry collections by Michael McKimm, Gustav Parker Hibbett, and Seán Hewitt, highlighting their contributions to queer literature in Ireland. McKimm's *Because we could not dance at the wedding* explores the intimate experiences of a queer couple, blending humor and tenderness while addressing societal limitations. Hibbett's *High Jump as Icarus Story* delves into themes of transformation and the intersection of personal trauma with broader societal issues, particularly racism. Hewitt's *Rapture’s Road* intertwines desire and nature, featuring a poignant poem about the murder of Declan Flynn, which critiques the historical violence faced by the LGBTQ+ community. Collectively, these works reflect the flourishing of queer poetry in Ireland. [Extracted from the article]
