Abstract

The author reflects on how the word ambivalence were used poems. She notes how John Ashbery suggests in his poem "Street Musicians" that ambivalence could help people see the multivalent forces they encounter as they move through time and space alongside others. She notes that the line of the poem "The Road Not Taken," by Robert Frost breaks in their relation to one another and enact ambivalence about these two roads.
