Abstract

An interview with Thomas McGuane, writer and lifelong angler, is presented. Topics include his views on competition in sports and its limits in friendships and personal life, the influence of class and social background on sporting pursuits like fishing and equestrianism, and how fishing and other outdoor activities inform his writing, creativity, and sense of personal fulfillment.
