Abstract

The article focuses on the ecological and theological significance of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin’s concept of the Omega point, clarifying common misunderstandings of it as a fixed endpoint rather than an open, evolving “moving center” of cosmic and spiritual potential. It contrasts Teilhard’s evolutionary and anthropocentric vision with Alfred North Whitehead’s process theology, emphasizing their shared view of a living, interconnected universe infused with divine presence and characterized by indeterminacy and hope rather than deterministic closure. The discussion highlights Teilhard’s notion of “planetization” as a hopeful transformation of global interconnectedness that could foster ecological solidarity and healing amid contemporary environmental crises. Ultimately, the article advocates for a nuanced ecological hope rooted in spiritual and material interdependence, resisting false optimism while embracing the uncertain but compelling possibility of a just and sustainable planetary future.
