Abstract
An interview with Denys Turner, professor emeritus of historical theology at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, is presented. He discusses his argument about Dante as the poet and Dante as the theologian in Dante Alighieri's poem "Divine Comedy," hell as a pseudo-community, "Divine Comedy" as a purgative poem, and the idea of purgatory. He talks about the failure of the Catholic Church to teach about the way to heaven and the failure of words in heaven.
