Abstract

Yet, Barsky's point that "real stories" of refugees are most likely read by people who are already interested in refugees while the canon can touch a broader readership that is not specifically interested in migration is compelling. Among the wide corpus of texts, Barsky explores in this chapter, his readings of the refugee themes in Moses' story in the I Bible i , in Dante's I The Divine Comedy i and in Milton's I Paradise Lost i are intriguing. Moreover, as the aforementioned examples demonstrate, Barsky's book attempts to highlight refugee themes in texts/characters that are not obviously or technically refugees.
