Abstract

Several poems by Eugenio Montale are presented along with a translation by Clive Watkins. "Old Lines." First Line: How well I recall the moth that came in once; Last Line: falls to the sea and scours out its own path. "Keepsake." First Line: Fanfan comes back the victor; Molly auctions; Last Line: dreams of green islands and no longer dances. "Bagni di Lucca." First Line: Between the thud of the chestnuts; Last Line: in the cloud of its own breathing.
