Abstract
This paper aims at exploring the lexical strata to which Roald Dahl resorted in designing three of his well-known stories, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, BFG and Matilda, as well as the way in which the inspired choice of words and ideas generates expressiveness. These stories are great examples of how the combinatory power of words facilitates the disclosure of the varied issues children encounter and experience in their journey to self-discovery.
