Abstract

This article provides an overview of optical prisms and their commercial offerings. Optical prisms have been used in various photonic technologies since the 1660s when Isaac Newton conducted experiments with sunlight and identified the colors of the visible spectrum. Prisms are transparent objects with polished surfaces that refract light, and they can be used to split or recombine colors. The article highlights several companies that manufacture and offer a wide range of optical prisms, including Edmund Optics, Artifex Engineering, CeNing, Ecoptik, FOCtek, G&H, IRD Glass, Knight Optical, Kingsview Optical, Perkins Precision Developments, Precision Optical, Sydor Optics, and Taiyo Optics. These companies provide various types of prisms for different applications, such as imaging, spectroscopy, telecommunications, surveillance, and astronomy. [Extracted from the article]
