Big‐tent eschatology: Apocalypse as a mobilizing concept for the January 6, 2021 Capitol Riot.

An essay is presented which discusses the Christian Right political faction and the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021. Topics explored include the changing aspects of White American Evangelicalism that have been observed through the said event, the way apocalyptic narratives functioned as a mobilizing concept of the incident, and other examples of these mobilizing concepts that tend to encourage extremist ideologies.
