Abstract

The article examines the dialectical relationship between Mahatma Gandhi and Karl Marx, exploring their complementary strengths and weaknesses in addressing contemporary social, political, and ethical issues in 2025. It highlights Gandhi's greater focus on multidimensional violence and nonviolence, emphasizing ethical living, compassion, and the reduction of ego, while recognizing Marx's more rigorous analysis of capitalism, class relations, and structural exploitation. The essay challenges common perceptions that position Gandhi and Marx as fundamentally opposed, proposing that their ideas can be creatively integrated to address ongoing crises such as inequality, oppression, and environmental degradation. It also discusses debates around caste, labor, and morality, advocating for open-ended dialogue that draws on both Gandhian and Marxist insights for future transformative practices.
