Abstract

The article analyzes the previously unknown or overlooked poems by Margaret Hutchinson, the radical niece of poet William Wordsworth. Topics include her critique of gender roles in the poem "On Reading a Song in the Cumberland Pacquet," her political advocacy for Irish Catholic emancipation in "In Imitation of Moore's Minstrel Boy," and her call for the Isle of Man's independence from British rule in "Address to Mona."
