Abstract

The article argues for replacing traditional, often anthropomorphic alliteration with informational alliteration that uses accurate, content-rich language to support preschoolers' alphabet learning while also building real-world knowledge. Topics include the concept of informational alliteration; its role in combining letter-sound instruction with scientific and concept-based knowledge; and benefits for equity, multilingual learners, and developmentally appropriate early literacy instruction.
