Abstract
Researchers at Freie Universitat Berlin conducted a study on the interaction between readers and text in literary reading, focusing on the balance between cognitive effort and emotional rewards. The study involved 31 subjects reading and rating a work of narrative fiction written in a poetic style, with text-based quantitative descriptors used to predict subjective ratings of comprehensibility, valence, arousal, and liking. The findings offer insights into the interactive process of literary processing and suggest potential avenues for future empirical literary studies. The research was published in Frontiers in Psychology and can be accessed for free online. [Extracted from the article]
