Abstract
This article focuses on the compilation of English abbreviation entries starting with the letter A for the Contemporary Slovene Dictionary of Abbreviations (CSDA), an ongoing lexicographic project accessible via the Termania online platform. It outlines how the structure of these entries was developed through analysis of English dictionaries of abbreviations and Slovene terminological dictionaries across various fields, emphasizing inclusion of the headword, abbreviated language qualifier, English expansions, Slovene translations or equivalents, and Slovene abbreviations, while excluding elements like genitive forms, pronunciation, gender, and part of speech. The article also discusses the use of distinctive symbols to indicate direct translations, descriptive phrases, and cross-references, aiming to create a clear, concise, and consistent model for future dictionary entries in other languages. This work serves as a reference for researchers interested in lexicography, bilingual abbreviation dictionaries, and Slovene-English terminological resources.
