Abstract

This text discusses two studies, "Style: A Queer Cosmology" by Taylor Black and "Queer Disappearance in Modern and Contemporary Fiction" by Benjamin Bateman, which explore the connection between queerness, style, and identity. Black's study focuses on personal style as a manifestation of individual essence in literary and cultural production, while Bateman's book examines the queer configuration of evanescence in fiction and environmental contexts. Both studies primarily analyze male and trans subjects, with Black's analysis including the works of Flannery O'Connor, Nikki Giovanni, and Toni Morrison. The studies highlight the long-standing association between queerness and style, and both authors draw connections between queerness, style, and the natural world. The writing styles of Black and Bateman reflect the themes they discuss, and overall, these studies provide insights into the complex relationship between queerness, style, and the environment.
