Abstract

The article presents the discussion on author of Jane Eyre learning of the production at the Victoria Theatre in Lambeth. Topics include metropolitan theatres hungry for new material where adaptations of novels forming a staple part of their ever-changing programmes; and audience roared with laughter at this knowing mix of slapstick and satire.
