Abstract

Chinese American literature has evolved over more than a century. As a bilingual Chinese American writer and as a member of an ethnic minority group in America, I think it is important to write influential works by introducing American readers to a unique world of Chinese American life. I have reviewed the development of contemporary Chinese American literature and have introduced some outstanding Chinese American authors and their published novels to the public. I try to use the vison of a Chinese American author who initially wrote fiction stories in English in analyzing some Chinese American authors' novels and their impacts from three perspectives: genre, theme, and language.
