Abstract

The article analyses how Geoffrey Chaucer embeds precise astronomical calculations in The Canterbury Tales, challenging claims that he made scientific mistakes. Topics include the astrolabe's role in structuring the single-day pilgrimage;the reinterpretation of the moon's "exaltation" as astronomy rather than astrology;and the symbolic framing of the journey through Aries and Libra.
