Abstract
The article examines irregular patterns in three specific metrical–grammatical constructions of the Old English epic to explore its origins and authorship. Topics include textual evidence of metrical dips and verb placement across the poem, questions of oral versus written transmission of the text, and the possibility of multiple poets contributing to Beowulf's composition.
