Abstract
This article discusses the influence of Edgar Allan Poe on the detective genre and explores the potential for reimagining his works in a contemporary context. It highlights the racist constructs present in Poe's writing and suggests that by updating and reinterpreting his narratives, writers and producers can create new versions that are culturally sensitive and inclusive. The article presents two examples of reimagined Poe stories, one featuring a Black protagonist and the other incorporating elements of the hit TV series Scandal. The author emphasizes the potential for these adaptations to engage and entertain modern audiences while addressing the problematic aspects of Poe's original works. [Extracted from the article]
