Abstract
In this challenging yet beautifully inviting piece, Rod Thompson explores Jesus' radical command to "love your enemies" (Matthew 5:43) as the defining ethic of God's Kingdom: a Kingdom of extravagant love. Thompson examines biblical examples and contrasts this teaching with the ancient retaliatory laws, emphasising creative and nonviolent resistance. Through Christ's life, death, and resurrection, believers are empowered to embody this love, overcoming evil with good. The piece concludes by highlighting the role of Christian education in forming peacemakers who advance reconciliation and justice in this world. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
