Abstract
This review focuses on *Communauté (Gemeinschaft)*, a 2018 French translation of six previously unpublished essays by Martin Buber (1878–1965) that explore his political philosophy centered on the concept of community (Gemeinschaft). Buber’s thought links community and dialogue, emphasizing a new form of community as an organic, dialogical union that transcends traditional societal structures based on utility or interest. Drawing on diverse cultural and philosophical sources—including Taoism, Heraclitus, and the Upanishads—Buber contrasts community with society and highlights the kibbutz as a practical example of communal life resisting capitalist atomization. The essays collectively argue that authentic community arises not from deliberate construction but from shared lived experience and dialogue, embodying a revolutionary transformation rooted in interpersonal and spiritual relations.
