Abstract

This article critically examines the traditional integration model of psychology and theology, highlighting its colonial foundations that prioritize white, male Christian perspectives while marginalizing diverse voices. It argues that theology often plays a passive role, providing resources for psychological insight without challenging Western-centric psychological frameworks rooted in universalism and individualism. Proposing a decolonial alternative, the article advocates for an epistemic shift embracing hybridity, collectivism, and liberation theology, emphasizing community-based healing and indigenous spiritual wisdom. Using the Netflix series *Beef* (2023) as a case study, it illustrates how colonial forces shape the psychological and spiritual struggles of Asian Americans, whose experiences are constrained by stereotypes like the model minority myth. The article concludes by outlining a decolonial pastoral care approach that fosters radical hospitality, validating marginalized identities and addressing structural oppression beyond individualistic frameworks.
