Abstract
"The Story of Fictional Truth: Realism from the Death to the Rise of the Novel" by Paul Dawson and "The Natural Laws of Plot: How Things Happen in Realist Novels" by Yoon Sun Lee are two new books that challenge our understanding of narrative and its components in eighteenth-century texts. While Dawson focuses on the history of the novel and the concept of verisimilitude, Lee explores the interwoven nature of plot, setting, character, and worldview. Both books offer new perspectives on familiar texts and provide valuable insights for scholars working in later periods as well. [Extracted from the article]
