Abstract

A recent report from the Faculty of Social Sciences discusses the relationship between hopelessness, depression, purpose in life, and suicide risk. The study, conducted with 340 university students in Colombia, found that purpose in life plays a significant role in reducing suicidal risk. The researchers suggest that a purpose-centered intervention program could help reduce suicide risk among university students by encouraging reflection on values, goals, and aspirations, and teaching coping skills. The findings support contemporary theories on the interplay between purpose in life, hopelessness, depression, and suicidal risk. [Extracted from the article]
