Abstract

This article focuses on Ta-Nehisi Coates, an African American author, journalist, and activist known for his exploration of systemic racism and resilience, which he describes as “true grit.” Raised in West Baltimore amid violence and systemic oppression, Coates channels his personal and intellectual struggles into his writing, notably in works such as *Between the World and Me*, which addresses the African-American experience and won the National Book Award for Nonfiction. Influenced by his father, a Vietnam War veteran and founder of Black Classic Press, Coates has contributed to major publications and authored several acclaimed books and Marvel Comics series. He has received numerous honors, including a MacArthur Fellowship, and holds academic positions, currently serving as writer in residence at New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. [Extracted from the article]
