Abstract
The article analyzes Romanian-French playwright Eugène Ionesco's screenplay "The Hard-Boiled Egg," which was intended for the U.S. television but was never produced due to funding issues. The analysis is based on archival collections of both the original French text and the English translation by writer Richard Seaver. It highlights how writing for audience influenced the content of Ionesco's screenplay, demonstrating his engagement with translation and his experimentation with translating.
