Abstract

An interview with novelist and playwright Darryl Pinckney is presented. Pinckney talks about the personality of writer and civil rights activist James Baldwin in his essay in "The New York Review of Books" and the personal circumstances and private conversations in his book "Come Back in September." He explains how to balance life and work in a biographical essay and describes his process of writing the book "Sold and Gone: Essays in Twentieth-Century African American Literature."
