Abstract

The article focuses on two significant literary events: the inaugural Sharjah Festival of African Literature (SFAL) and the fourth Sharjah International Booksellers Conference. The SFAL, held from January 24–27, featured Nobel Prize winners Abdulrazak Gurnah and Wole Soyinka, along with contributions from 15 other prominent African authors and literary figures, highlighting the cultural connections between Africa and the Middle East. The booksellers conference, taking place in April 2025, gathered over 750 participants from 92 countries, showcasing discussions led by key figures from Romania's Carturesti bookstore chain and Germany's Thalia, emphasizing the evolving landscape of bookselling in Europe and the importance of community engagement in bookstores.
