Abstract
The article focuses on a study that investigates how temporality influences online video consumption and narrative engagement on video-sharing platforms. Researchers from the City University of Hong Kong conducted two online experiments to analyze the effects of concurrent viewer cues and Danmaku comments on viewer engagement. The findings suggest that past viewer cues and randomly timed comments enhance perceived social presence, which in turn increases viewer engagement and impacts information processing in digital storytelling. The research contributes to understanding the psychological effects of social cues in computer-mediated communication. [Extracted from the article]
