Abstract

The article focuses on the founding and growth of Marico, an Indian consumer-goods company, emphasizing its commitment to innovation in products, packaging, marketing, supply chain, and talent management. Originating as a division within the family firm Bombay Oil Industries, Marico was spun off in 1990 to become an independent, professionally managed company that expanded its market share through consumer-friendly packaging and health-focused branding. The company diversified into new product lines and services, including hair care and skin-care clinics, while also expanding internationally. Leadership transitions and the establishment of the Marico Innovation Foundation reflect ongoing efforts to foster entrepreneurship and innovation in India's business ecosystem.
