Abstract
John Newcombe Crossley is a mathematician, logician, and historian of ancient mathematics. He is known for his popular book on modern logic and his work in mathematical logic in the Southern Hemisphere. Born in Yorkshire, England, he studied at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School and went on to become a fellow at All Souls College, Oxford. He has mentored several successful logicians and has collaborated on various projects. He was elected to a chair in Pure Mathematics at Monash University in Melbourne and has made significant contributions to computability theory. [Extracted from the article]
